Mrs Frances Doreen Spencer has received a Benemerenti award from Pope Benedict. The medal was presented on behalf of the Holy Father by Fr. Lupton during the Heritage Group's recent trip to Canterbury.

The Benemerenti* medal was instituted by Pope Gregory XVI in 1832 and is conferred on those who have exhibited long and exceptional service to the Catholic Church and their community.  Doreen received it in recognition of 40 years service to the Parish and to the Heritage Group.
